On Saturday 2nd December we held the launch of the Lowe Foundation, celebrating more than 30 years of commitment to community well-being with a gala evening at Woodlands Golf Club. The event reinforced the strong connection between Lowe Design & Build, and the local community, in particular, our two flagship charities Outside The Locker Room and Camp Awakenings.

Guest speakers were Jake Edwards, former AFL player and Founder of ‘Outside the Locker Room’ (OTLR, outsidethelockerroom.com.au) as well as Michael Weiser and Sandi Sieger, Program Directors of Camp Awakenings (campawakenings.com.au).  OTLR is a welfare and education program for youth of local sporting clubs.  The program looks to empower, educate, and support young adult participants both on and off the field. Camp Awakenings provides Year 9 participants the opportunity to develop and harness methods and skills to counter the challenges faced by today’s youth.

When Lowe Design & Build was established in 1984, it was at this time Brian Lowe thought it equally important to be an active and involved community member and so signed up to the Chelsea Rotary Club.  Brian’s contribution to the community was plentiful.  In 2011 Kingston City Council awarded Brian Lowe with the Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award for his service to the community and for setting up a trust fund through the construction business that raised over $1,000,000 to fund various local schools, facilities and programs.

We are a company who has always been dedicated to excellence and giving back to the community and being involved is part of what we do.” states Brian.  “We are proud to introduce the Lowe Foundation and look forward to continuing this commitment to our community.

With Matt Lowe now at the reins for Lowe Design & Build, his focus is to continue the company culture of community support and involvement.  The Lowe Foundation, currently supports numerous programs many of which focus on youth development, mental and physical well-being and cancer research.

Matt Lowe comments, “We have been part of the Bayside community for over 30 years, not only through our personal involvement but also through the work we do. We are proud to announce the magnificent home at Mt Martha, designed and built by the Lowe team has won the 2016 HIA Eastern Victoria Custom Built Home in the $1 – $2M category.

The 2016 HIA Eastern Victoria Regional Housing awards were held in September at the Mercure Portsea Resort, before a crowd of local industry leaders and peers from across the Eastern Victoria region. 

Clients Roger & Lisa had a vision to build a simple and functional home, practical for everyday living, with the lavishness of a holiday house. Maximising the views without compromising the comfort was paramount.

The home is located, high above the woodland above the Esplanade with a breathtaking view. The brief was to create an outdoor area sheltered from the strong winds, and maintain focus on the sea views, within a built environment.

Thrilled with the results, client Roger mentions: “It was a pleasure to work with Lowe, with great attention to detail in every aspect. We absolutely love our home!”

If You’re Thinking of Developing Your Block, it’s Crucial to Get the Right Advice. 

A large number of residents in Bayside suburbs are lucky enough to live on a large block. Letter from a Valued Client

It often seems that this type of letter appears written by a family member or upon request but, in this case, neither is so. It is now just on 4 years since I took possession of my Lowe Construction townhouse. From the start of the project the service from this wonderful family business has been outstanding. There was professional and well-targeted help with the initial subdivision of the original block, demolition of the original house, design of the new building and marketing of the twin townhouse. The ideas I had concerning design were always discussed with respect and where needed modifications suggested. The planning process was seamless and completed on time. I work long hours so supervising the actual build would have proved difficult, but such action was never required. The building was done on time, there was regular reporting on progress and whenever I had a chance to drop by, it never seemed to be a problem to show me over the site and to discuss any questions I had….

The process was transparent, with timely consultation about interior design options and landscaping. There were no unexpected budget variations other than those I added and the building was completed to the time schedule I needed to go by. I felt I had dealt with an honest, caring and community minded company. But in many ways the best was yet to come. The ‘after hand-over’ service has been impeccable. Whether questions about how things functioned, or small concerns that always happen in a new house, the queries have always been addressed promptly and successfully, with follow-up to check. It made the experience of moving into this wonderful, light, airy and well appointed Lowe home a real joy. I love the philosophy displayed by the company in a variety of areas: supporting other family businesses in the building trade, the close relationship that seemed to exist with the tradies who work for them plus the light footprint on the environment that Lowe houses seem to have. WINNER Best New Building

The Bayside City Council Built Environment Awards showcase the expertise of building designers and encourage high standards of excellence in design within the municipality. The awards raise community awareness of design, landscape and heritage issues and publicly acknowledge architects and designers who have positively contributed to the city’s built environment.

Every building site is unique and has its own complexities. It is the task of the designer to maximise the possibilities of the site and ensure that the building is complementary to its neighbourhood surrounds.

Lowe Design & Build are pleased to have been awarded Best New Building for 17 Tramway Parade, Beaumaris. A Commendation for Most Creative Design was also awarded for 8 Rose Street, Sandringham.


Dinner & Charity Auction

The Lowe Design & Build Annual Dinner & Charity Auction was a fantastic night enjoyed by all! On behalf of the Lowe family we would like to thank you for your generosity. We raised an amazing  $32, 427 for our fantastic beneficiaries – Men’s Shed, Camp Awakenings & the Arrowsmith Program.

We look forward to seeing you all again this year!
