Elevating every day.
Created as a complete transformation of the clients’ long-held site, this knockdown-rebuild delivers a modern coastal home crafted to support long-term living while embracing its extraordinary corner-block position, overlooking Port Phillip Bay.
The brief called for a residence that could host family and friends with ease, offer multiple spaces for relaxation and entertainment, and remain perfectly suited to its two primary occupants well into the future. A robust, modern material palette and extensive glazing were central to the architectural vision, ensuring durability while framing the breathtaking bay views from both street frontages.
The resulting 41-square home pairs refined craftsmanship with carefully choreographed spatial planning. Floor-to-ceiling windows capture the evolving coastal panorama, while a dramatic entry void, sculptural staircase, and commanding façade establish an immediate sense of arrival. The first-floor living domain, featuring a generous kitchen with butler’s pantry, dining and lounge areas, and an expansive undercover deck, creates a breathtaking vantage point over the bay.
On the ground floor, a pool, gym, and additional living zones support an active lifestyle, while a lift ensures ease of accessibility. Natural stone detailing, feature tiling, and thoughtful integration of the clients’ extensive Aboriginal art collection underscore the home’s considered sophistication.
Recognised with a 2022 HIA Victoria Highly Commended Award for Custom Built Home $1.5–$2 million, the residence exemplifies a successful design-and-build journey; luxurious, welcoming, and perfectly attuned to beachfront living.
