Aerie is a home shaped by refuge and outlook.

Positioned on a prominent corner site overlooking Port Phillip Bay, the design balances expansive coastal views with a sense of privacy. Developed in collaboration with Tony Vella of Rachcoff Vella Architecture, the home draws inspiration from the idea of a nest – a protected place from which to observe and engage with its surroundings.

A robust masonry base anchors the house to the site. Layered and corbelled brickwork wraps the lower levels, creating a textured and protective enclosure that establishes a sense of permanence and solidity. Above, the primary living spaces are recessed within the form, creating a sheltered viewing terrace that allows occupants to engage with the surroundings without feeling exposed to them.

A defining cantilevered roof plane extends beyond the glazed upper level, providing shade, weather protection and a distinctive architectural presence. It reinforces the sense of shelter while framing expansive views toward Port Phillip Bay. The result is a home that feels both protected and connected, offering a calm vantage point from which to engage with the surrounding landscape.

Currently progressing through design development, Aerie is a considered response to bayside living, balancing outlook, privacy and shelter on a highly exposed corner site.
