Crafted coastal living.
Set within the coastal landscape of Portsea on the Mornington Peninsula, this custom home was designed as a holiday retreat for a growing extended family. It is generous enough for gatherings, yet thoughtfully detailed to create moments of calm and privacy.
A grounded material palette shapes the home. Timber, concrete and natural stone form the foundation of the design, selected for their enduring character. Marble, granite, oak joinery and expressive crazy paving introduce warmth and texture, creating a home that feels refined yet relaxed.
Externally, timber cladding wraps the home and is designed to weather naturally to a soft silvery grey, referencing the surrounding coastal environment. Operable upper-level timber screens provide privacy and protection, allowing light and outlook to be moderated throughout the day.
Inside, the kitchen is anchored by a sculpted marble island. A helical staircase rises beneath a circular skylight, drawing natural light into the centre of the home. The sunken living room creates a generous yet intimate gathering space, defined by off form insitu concrete and centred around a cast iron fireplace.
Throughout, careful material selection and meticulous detailing ensure the home will age gracefully over time. Durable, expressive finishes balance warmth with resilience, creating a residence that feels both contemporary and enduring.
The result is a Portsea home designed to welcome family and friends for generations. Crafted with integrity, shaped by its environment and built to last.
